Questions To Ask When Cleaning Out Your Closet
What should you consider when doing a little closet makeover?
We can all be a little sentimental when it comes to our clothing. For instance, I still have my matric dance shoe… yes, shoe! I left the other one at the after party and, for years, have senselessly allowed a single shoe to take up precious closet space. I have no justifiable reason for keeping this shoe because one thing I know for sure, I’m not Cinderella. Nor am I a celebrity who can afford a closet the size of a small apartment.
The average woman’s closet has little space for sentimentality. It may be time to get practical and have a clean out. These questions will help you decide the fate of your questionable garments.
Does it fit?
Let’s get real; once you lose weight or gain muscle, you buy new jeans. There is no need to allow a pair of pants that may or may not fit in a few months a space in your wardrobe.
Have you worn it in the last 12 months?
If not, you’re unlikely to ever wear it again.
Is it damaged?
If so, can it be repaired? If it can indeed be repaired, be honest with yourself on whether or not you will go to the trouble of mending the item.
Is it currently in style?
Styles change and so does your taste. If you’ve moved past your faux fur phase, it’’s time to let go of the evidence.
Do you own anything similar?
Do you really need two pairs of red pumps?
Do you feel confident when wearing it?
You may have bought a leather gilet three years back which made you feel fabulous, but if there’s a small voice in the back of your mind telling you that you look like a fool wearing it, it’s time to toss it!
As for me, I’m still holding onto my lone shoe in the event that a handsome man might appear at my door with its partner. A girl can dream, right?
