Look no further for the ultimate spring drink … a minty fresh mojito!
Mojito is a traditional Cuban highball, consisting of white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water and mint. Monkey Shoulder invites you to have a little cocktail fun with a twist on the traditional. Cool your taste buds down with a lick of fresh lime juice and sugary syrup, while ginger quietly hangs out in the background. Cheers to spring!
50 ml Monkey shoulder
20 ml fresh lime juice
15 ml sugar syrup
Dash Angostura bitters
12 mint leaves
Add all ingredients to a glass, except the ginger ale. Muddle well. Add crushed ice and stir. Top up with ginger ale. Garnish with mint leaves and lime wedge.
Make your own homemade red currant syrup: Dissolve equal measures of water and castor sugar into a bowl. Mash up equal weight of red currants and add to the sugar syrup you just made. Let it sit for a few hours, or as long as you can handle. When you think it’s tasty enough, strain it very well. If red currants are ridiculously rare, then a combination of fresh raspberries and grenadine syrup does the trick!
