History Meets Modernity At Polo In The Park

Coco Chanel, the true queen of fashion herself, made a fashion breakthrough in the

1900s, combining her love for horses and fashion. She started dressing women in men’s

polo uniforms and women’s fashion was forever changed.

As stated by fashion designer Malcolm Kluk, “What better way than to celebrate the horseback movement of Man from China through Persia to Africa than with the “SPORT

OF KINGS” elevated through the skill of Couture”. The 2000-year-old history of polo is brought to you by the Standard bank, as Urban Polo in the Park exclusive event, on

November 16th.

Standard Bank and the African Deluxe Company bring to you the very first Polo in the Park experience in Africa. Elevating elegance is the buzzword of the day with a dress code of Nomadic Couture. The Nomadic Couture theme of the Polo in the Park is bringing the traditional inspiration from the nomadic style that has emerged into a very modern and elegant take on polo. Rich and vibrant colors, such as orange, yellow and brown on silk fabric combined with accessories and elegant hats.

“A theme to set apart to show off high fashion on a global platform, will not disappoint” as designer Jacques Lagrange puts it. “Nomadic to bring all cultures together to show off what couture they have to offer”. Taking the inspiration from different continents, and finding a common ground in celebrating different cultures and eras coming together, the nomadic couture takes you on a journey through ages.

The Father of Fashion in Polo, Ralph Lauren had his nomadic inspired 2017 Collection, and described it as “an exotic sophistication contrasting pure shapes with rustic textures, burnished golds, shades of the desert, and artful, one-of-a-kind jewelry.”
