Don’t Abandon Your Hygiene Routine Over The Holidays

Holidays are a time to let your hair down and be flexible, but this doesn’t mean you should kick your basic beauty and hygiene to the curb.

Taking off your makeup after a night out, remembering to floss regularly and spraying on your anti-perspirant can often take a backseat when enjoying your holiday. Jennifer Cromie, R&D Director working with the Shield Germ Defence team at Unilever, shares five tips to keep you feeling healthy, glowing and confident at all times:

  1. Pack cleansing wipes to remove makeup

While it’s never a good idea to go to bed without cleaning your face, you can always make the process easier every now and then by using makeup remover wipes. Opt for good quality brands that don’t contain harsh chemicals, then use your usual face wash and moisturiser afterwards.

  1. Carry anti-perspirant with you

Protecting your body from odour-causing germs is a must. There’s never an excuse for bad body odour, so carry an effective anti-perspirant wherever you go to avoid being that girl.

  1. Use hand sanitiser when you can’t get to a bathroom

From the tabletop at a restaurant to the door handle in a public bathroom, coming into contact with germs is as simple as reaching out and touching something near you. Washing your hands with water and soap is the best way to keep germs at bay. If you can’t get to a bathroom or basin to wash your hands, using hand sanitiser is your next best bet.

  1. Remember to pack the hygiene products your body prefers

Avoid the hassle of having to use unfamiliar hygiene products by making lists and packing at least a day before of your trip. The last thing you want to leave behind are the facial, hair and other body hygiene products you’re used to using. While it’s not the end of the world for some, you might have a hard time adjusting to new products, which may result in breakouts and even infections in the case of sensitive skin types.

  1. Mouthwash and floss can be a lifesaver

It is easy to forget to brush your teeth when you are in full holiday mode, but bad breath can seriously hamper your fun. Carry floss, a small pocket-sized mouthwash or even chewing gum in your bag for fresh breath emergencies.
